Decarbonize Foundation

Food security and agricultural emissions are central to Africa’s climate challenge and community resilience.

We focus on transitioning agriculture toward climate resilient, sustainable food systems. DAF promotes the adoption of regenerative and agro-ecological farming practices that enhance soil health and promote on-farm biodiversity contributing to the net-zero goal by increasing carbon sequestration in the soil. The approach is geared towards building community resilience by diversifying crop yields and improving farmer incomes against erratic weather patterns, making food systems resilient and sustainable.
DAF also ensures economic empowerment of the smallholder farmers who form the backbone of Africa’s economy; are active participants and beneficiaries of the transition.

We work to shorten and localize supply chains, employ low carbon solutions and implement innovative food waste reduction technologies, thereby minimizing environmental impact while improving nutritional outcomes for local communities. By making food systems sustainable, resilient and economically viable, DAF ensures that smallholder farmers—who form the backbone of Africa’s economy—are active participants and beneficiaries of the transition.
